20 years ago Lou Bryant was an active member of our local 12 step community. As it turns out, Lou Bryant had no biological family left towards his final years. However, like many people in recovery, his extended family was all the people in the meeting rooms and his long-term recovery network that he without a doubt considered family. Upon his death he bequeathed his final $35,000, requesting that a foundation be started to support the great work of the Mid-Hudson Addiction Recovery Centers or the MARC Agency as it is known by tens of thousands.
Hence the MARC Foundation was initiated. Since that time the MARC Foundation has raised money each year to help support the programs and services managed by the MARC Agency.
The foundation has helped the MARC Agency to purchase buildings to provide affordable housing to people in long term recovery. The Foundation has helped spearhead new initiatives that have been very promising as it relates to sustaining recovery for those individuals going through the MARC Agency’s full continuum of services from initial detox, through early recovery and into long-term recovery. The foundation has also helped in countless other ways over the past 20 years.
In the past few years, The MARC Foundation has change their mission slightly to include the goal of helping with any initiative in Dutchess County that supports and sustains long-term recovery and prevention for people with addictions.
We are entering 2020 with high hopes and expectations that we can build on our large following of supporters and leverage the power of the tens of thousands of people with ties to our community who have sustained successful long-term recovery from addiction. People support people and that’s the whole premise around AA and NA, but there are initiatives and agencies in our community that need vital financial support to continue to provide excellent prevention and ongoing care that falls out of the realm of the self-help arena.
That’s where the MARC Foundation and YOU become such an important part of helping people find their best self. Please help us kick off 2020 by helping us reach our goal of $25,000, by making a donation to the MARC Foundation. We assure you that your donation will go directly to reaching people, who at this time, are in desperate need of that saving grace of a kind heart, and a safe place that can help them to reach their full potential as a human being though sobriety. .
Please share this opportunity to help others find the freedom of sobriety by supporting the MARC Foundation.
